We lost more shingles last night. The storm that was rolling toward us looked fairly innocuous on radar but then suddenly around 7pm our phones went off with a destructive wind alert.

It was kind of a, “huh?”, moment at first. The wind didn’t seem bad… and then I heard a weird noise above us as a big gust came through.

We looked at the observations from the airport and son of a gun, it was gusting to 70 knots (130 km/h). That’s easily one of the strongest wind speeds I’ve seen in Alberta, outside of the usual Pincher Creek or Lethbridge shenanigans.

I then looked outside and noticed a rather disconcerting slab of shingles in our apple tree. You might call that somewhat suboptimal.

My buddy Josh is an absolute 🐐 and was here at 8:15am ready to fix the shingles. There are many baked goods being prepared with his name on them as we speak.

Thank you so much again Josh!
